Collecting restriction data from psychiatric hospitals
MOH
Mechanic restrictions and isolation are acceptable psychiatric measures, which the system aspires to reduce as much as possible.
The project’s objective is to create an automatic interface from mental health hospitals to MOH in order to transfer the restrictions data, on a daily basis, to follow up the documentation of restrictions which takes place at mental health hospitals and in line with 2018 Director General's Circular
The group’s study case
Mechanic restrictions and isolations are measures used in Psychiatry. Mechanic restriction of a patient or isolating them are extreme measures, and the system must aspire to reduce the use of these measures as much as possible. These measures must be used for extremely exceptional cases, to the required extent only, and just to prevent an immediate actual physical danger to the patient or his fellows.
Mental Health systems around the world are trying to find the way to minimize the use of these measures, from a human clinical perspective, as the leading principal is the belief that reducing the use of these measures is crucial to assure the patient’s respect, good health and wellbeing.
The project’s objective is to create an automatic interface from the mental health hospitals to MOH on a daily basis to transfer the information about restrictions made in the last 24 hours prior to sending the interface, in order to follow up the documentation of restrictions takes place in the mental health hospitals and in line with 2018 Director General's Circular.
The project’s world of content
Mental Health Restrictions Data.
The reports about restriction occasions will be received from mental health hospitals according to report structure in resolution of an individual record and without the patient’s identifiable information.
The report will be made regarding data that exists in 2 channels of information (not related to each other in the origin system):
Restriction occasion documentation entries in the system (documentation is made by the nursing staff - in restriction screens)
Doctor’s orders (from Doctor’s orders entries, filtering the orders which relate to restrictions only)
